YMV Summer Camps

We welcome homeschool and non-homeschool families to attend our Band, Art, Digital Literacy, SAT Bootcamp and Choir Camps. Use the online links below to sign up for any of our Summer Camps.

*Families not currently registered at YMV must add on a $15.00 registration fee payable in the YMV office on your first day of camp.

Band Camp [Grades 6-12]

Spend one week with great educators learning some of the newest music and methods in a concert band setting! Students will study concert band music and enjoy the great opportunities of playing, perfecting, and performing on their brass, wind, or percussion instruments. Activities will include full band and small sectional instruction with challenging and interesting new music. The week will end with a performance of the music that has been polished during the week.

Choir Camp [Grades 6-12]

July 23rd-27th, 9:00am-12:00 noon     Cost: $80.00*
Registration Deadline: Ju;y 16, 2018

Each day, students will start with vocal exercises that build strength and technique. Time will then be spent on ensemble music to reinforce the musical ear team building. There will be opportunities for solo work and duet or trio songs. Students will work on practical performance etiquette, confidence building, and expressive communication while singing. The week will end with a performance at 11:00 am of the music that has been polished during the week.

Exploring Great Artists [Grades 1-5]
Instructors: Stephanie Councill
July 16th-20th, 9:00-12:00 noon     Cost: $80.00* Supply fee: $25.00

Students will be introduced to five great master artists from history and will create works in the artists' styles. A variety of media will be used for daily projects. The camp week will culminate with an art show to display the completed projects.

SAT Summer Boot Camp [Grades 9-12]
Instructor: Nathan Dee
July 16th-20th & July 23rd-27th, 9:00am-11:00am     Cost: $80.00* Supply fee: $35.00

This course will acquaint the student with the new SAT, pinpointing trouble spots. The course will include: tactics and strategies, vocabulary and essay writing, math, math and more math, and a practice test in SAT conditions. Perfect for anyone who plans to take the PSAT in the fall or the SAT throughout the year.

Digital Literacy Class [Grades 6-12]
Instructor: Crystal Barnett
June 12th-July 31st, 9:30am-11:30am, Tuesdays     Cost: $84.00* Supply fee: $15.00

This course will introduce students to Microsoft Office Suite and Google Apps. Students will become familiar with producing documents, workbooks, data charts, and digital presentations in various applications. Come with a laptop computer equipped with Microsoft Office and ability to connect to the internet.

Summer Biology Class
Instructor: Christine Stoeltzing
June 12th –August 21st, 10:30am-2:00pm, Tuesdays     Cost: $142.00/month and $30 supply fee*

Please note there are assignments due the first day of class and you will be given the assignment sheet upon payment of registration. A high school biology course, this college-prep biology course provides a detailed introduction to the methods and concepts of general biology. Heavily emphasizing the vocabulary of biology, it provides the student a strong background in the scientific method, the five-kingdom classification scheme, microscopy, biochemistry, cellular biology, molecular and Mendelian genetics, evolution, and ecosystems. Labs will include microscope work, experiments, and dissection. This summer course is worth a full credit of high school biology and is for home school students only.
